GEORGETOWN, KY (Oct. 25, 2024) — Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. (TAI) announced today that it will donate $50,000 to nonprofits supporting relief and recovery efforts in areas hardest hit by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Benefiting organizations include American Red Cross, United Way of North Carolina, and World Central Kitchen.
Considering the destruction following Hurricanes Helene and Milton, and the areas hardest hit, including western North Carolina and Florida’s gulf coast, TAI is reinforcing its commitment to the regions where TAI members and partners live and work. Selected organizations are providing immediate relief and support for long-term recovery for impacted communities.
“As many people work to rebuild their homes and lives, TAI wants to support local relief efforts, not just in the immediate sense, but in the weeks and months ahead as communities come together to recover, rebuild, and move forward,” said TAI President and CEO, Naoyuki Hata. “TAI strives to be socially responsible and to support the areas where many of our members, colleagues, and partners work and live.”
TAI contributions include support for the following organizations:
- $30,000 to American Red Cross for Hurricanes Helene and Milton
- $10,000 to the NC Disaster Relief Fund, administered by the United Way of North Carolina
- $10,000 to World Central Kitchen
In addition to corporate support, TAI offers a giving program that empowers employees to give back to their communities. Through this online platform, employees can contribute to a variety of nonprofit organizations. TAI amplifies the impact of these contributions by matching donations to eligible causes, up to $250 annually per employee, effectively doubling the support provided.
“On the heels of back-to-back disasters, TAI members were quickly looking for ways to show their support. We want to reward their generosity by both matching their contributions and showing our members that TAI cares and is doing what we can to support some of the hardest hit communities,” said TAI Senior Vice President, Jim Blyth.
